What's Your Love Language?
/What is your love language? On a recent episode of
, podcast hosts Fran, Dustin, and Assante talked about the importance of knowing your love language and that of your romantic partner or your prospective romantic partner.
Of the many ways that people show their love to others, there are five love languages: Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Receiving Gifts, Acts of Service, and Physical Touch. I never really thought about the ways that I show my love to others or how the ways I communicate my love to others influences how I expect them to communicate their love to me.
Listening to Dustin, Assante, and Fran talk about their love languages emboldened me to find out my own. So, I asked my good girlfriend Google to help me and she directed me to the love language test posted below. After answering 30 short questions, I found out that
my love language is quality time.
Quality Time:
In the vernacular of Quality Time, nothing says, “I love you,” like full, undivided attention. Being there for this type of person is critical, but really being there—with the TV off, fork and knife down, and all chores and tasks on standby—makes your significant other feel truly special and loved. Distractions, postponed dates, or the failure to listen can be especially hurtful.
Take the quiz below to find out your love language.
If You Don't Stand For Something...
/We will not bow down to racism.
We will not bow down to injustice.
We will not bow down to exploitation.
I'm gonna stand, I'm gonna stand.

How I Retwist My Locs with Pure and Fresh Aloe Vera Gel
/The season has changed, and that means it is time to give some extra TLC to my locs. I like the natural properties of the aloe vera plant. There are so many great uses for the plant.
In the video below, I show how I use aloe vera to retwist my locs. Aloe leaves my hair soft and residue free and it holds my locs in place pretty well (much better than some loc gels on the shelves).
Have you ever used pure aloe in your hair? What were your results?
College Nostalgia: Deltas Sing "Weak" by SWV
/Feeling a bit nostalgic for my college days on Columbia University campus. The sorors of Rho Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority sang Weak by SWV at one of the talent shows on campus. As you can hear, I thoroughly enjoyed their performance.
What I Am Reading: Kiss The Girls by James Patterson
/Continuing with my movie to book series, I am currently reading "Kiss the Girls" by James Patterson. I really enjoyed "Along Came A Spider," which was the first book in the Alex Cross series. The book was ten times better than the movie, which might explain its 31% Tomatometer rating and 53% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Right now, I am on Chapter 48 of "Kiss The Girls" and I am really enjoying it. The movie, which stars Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd, is one of my favorite crime movies and it seems to follow the book pretty closely. I can't wait to finish the book to see if it ends as fantastically as the movie.
If you are looking for a good crime drama, featuring a black male lead character, check out this book.

NBA Dikembe Mutombo GEICO Commercial (no no no not in my house)
/Love this commercial. This is how I feel when someone tries to "pop off" when I know they are wrong.
Making Chocolate in Guatemala
/This experience spoiled me. I can only have foreign chocolate with high cacao percentages. No more hershey's for me.
